Battered Burger
We went over to Disney today after our Wyndham "vacation ownership" presentation. Didn't buy anything.
We stopped at Cooke's Pub on Pleasure Island for some beer and lunch.
This was Larry's lunch.
I had a beer and a few bites of his battered deep fried burger and some of his fries. Good but too many points to have my own.

First Full Day in Orlando
It finally feels like we're on vacation. We didn't have to spend 10 hours in the car, or go shopping or lug bags around. We got up and didn't have to do anything! We were at our first destination, the Wyndhan Bonnet Creek Resort.
That didn't last for too long. We brought our coffee maker from home because I love having it grind and make the coffee, A great way to start the day. It was 6:30 and I was getting the pot ready when Larry thought it might be too early to make the coffee because the grinding is pretty loud and might disturb our neighbors. So I waited until about 7:30 and turned on the pot. When it was done I went over to the pot and saw that the coffee was all over the floor and counter. OH NO!!! I forgot to put in the filter. I should have taken a picture but I just grabbed paper towels and started cleaning. Larry came over and pitched in too. After everything was cleaned up I was ready to try again when I realized we used up the water we had bought the night before. Off to Publix for some more.
The rest of the day was much better. We drank our coffee, had breakfast and when we were finally ready to go out, we took a walk around the grounds.
Then we got our tennis stuff and tried our injured bodies on the tennis court to see how we would do. The last time we played was a year ago. I was all dressed up with my wrist band, tennis elbow band and now a knee brace. Larry had his heel pad (not visible) and his tennis elbow band. I didn't run but was able to move some and swing the racket so that my shoulder didn't bother me - - no shoulder band. We were out for about 40 minutes and will try again tomorrow.
After pina colata smoothies and yogurt for lunch we went to the pool and hottub for the afternoon. Lindeman's Bin 65 Chardonnay that was 2/$12 at Publix for happy hour, dinner and TV rounded out the rest of the day.

Pittsburgh to Columbia, SC
We left Kris's early after a beautiful breakfast she put together with homemade muffins and fresh fruit.
We stayed overnight in Columbia at the Courtyard Columbia Northeast which was right off of I77. We had a suite and we're getting quite spoiled now and don't even want to stay one night in a single hotel room. And the complimentary breakfast was outstanding with many healthy options.
We went to Cracker Barrel which was right next door for dinner. We had spinach salads that came with corn muffins and biscuits.

Eating Out(side) in March
I took a break from trying to pack to go on an outing with the ladies to Flight Wine Bar. Of course we had a wonderful time and it's still hard to believe we were sitting outside and were HOT and it's only March!
The night before we went to Aladdin's at Schoen Place and ate outside too.
The bushes are in bloom and the sun was very bright!
And the river looked so peaceful and summeryThe night before we went to Aladdin's at Schoen Place and ate outside too.

Penfield Basketball
Katie plays basketball for Penfield and they had a great season.
They were undefeated until the Class AA state finals last night but lost to the top ranked Cicero-North Syracuse team 62-48.
This picture of Katie was in the paper today.
and I found this one online too from the game the day before

I Need a Vacation
I don't know if I need a vacation or just a change of environment. Actually with temperatures being as warm as they have been this March and predicted to go up to 80 over the next few days, the idea of going to Florida for a month seems a bit ludicrous. But it will be fun while we're down there, Fred is coming one week and Nadine and Michael are coming the next and that's just what is currently planned.
But the reason I need to get away is just to escape the "misfortune" that has fallen my way. At least this week it was just annoyances and nothing damaging or physically debilitating.
The Good the Bad and The Ugly - my week in review
Last Saturday we were going to Finger Lakes CC to watch Katie's basketball game. Penfield was playing Lockport in some sectional playoff. On the way we stopped at Hoselton to look at cars. I spoke to Conor that week and he said there were some good deals on leases for the Highlander (which Larry has) and the Sienna (which he was thinking of getting). "How much time should we give ourselves there so we can get to the game," I asked. "Well, I'm not going to buy so and hour should be enough," he replied. Famous last words. He signed the paperwork for a new Sienna which we test drove and arranged to pick it up on Wednesday. We missed the 1st quarter of the game, but saw Penfield win! So far so good.
We picked the car up on Wednesday. It's longer than the Highlander which should be great for our road trips but not so great for the garage. Our garage needs a clean out badly so this might be just the push we need to do it.
The car is grey but because of the lighting it doesn't look that way, But the garage does make us look like hoarders. Definitely needs a clean-up since I can't walk around the front of the car.
We programmed the car to work with the garage door opener but the next day when I was going to work I realized my garage door opener wouldn't work anymore. Starting the bad - -
When I left work I was going to the Monroe Library to pick up a book on CD to listen to on the drive to Florida but when I got to my car the automatic door opener wouldn't work. It's a keyless entry and drive system but I knew where the key was on my fob and opened the door with it for the first time, the battery was dead and it started to rain. Inside the car I flipped through the pages of the car manual to figure out how to start the car.
1- Put the car into park
2- Put your foot on the break
3- Hold the fob against start button until beep
4-Push button within 5 seconds
I did all that and then it was pouring. Rather than going to the library in the downpour and worry about whether it was going to start again I decided to go home and replace the battery first. No problem about the rain, I could just pull into the garage. STOP!!! I remembered, my garage door opener didn't work - but that's OK I'll just call Larry and have him open the door from inside. STOP again. I just remembered - he went to play golf. Rather than get upset I figured I would just sit in the driveway in my car and listen to my book until the rain let up a bit and then I'd manually open the garage door. A GOOD in the middle of the BAD - as I made the turn, I saw that Larry was in the garage - TIMING IS EVERYTHING.
The next day, just to round out the week, work was incredibly busy and we were there forever doing the good old paper tally. We need computers!!!

Happy St Patrick's Day
We had our corned beef and cabbage and Irish beer a little early.
We attended the annual St John Fisher Alumni St Patricks Day party on Thursday complete with Irish dancers.
On Friday we went to the RPO and were surprised, once again, by the wonderful show that was presented. Why are we even surprised anymore. They've been exceeding expectations all season. This time we saw the Irish band Cherish the Ladies.

Red Kidney Bean Dip
Another recipe from Patti. She brought this to Patsy's last night and it was so limey and good and healthy (if it wasn't for all the Naked Pita Chips I ate with it)

Add the kidney beans and their liquid and stir in the tomato paste and spices and cook for a few minutes.

Dumb and Dumber
My leg all of a sudden was so much better today. I went to work and then was going to lunch at La-Tea-Da with Anna. We drove down, had a delicious relaxing lunch and lots of chatting. While we were sitting there I said, "Oh look, my bad leg is crossed over my other one." My leg did it without me even being aware of it since it was so natural for me to sit that way before my meniscus tear.

March in Rochester
I went shopping today. Fortunately my bad knee is the left one and I don't have a clutch. I was able to carefully maneuver so that I could bend my leg enough to get in and out of the car.
Having a shopping cart to hold onto really helped.
The most amazing part of the day was when I saw that the outside temperature was 70 degrees. It was a beautiful day!

New Purse
I finally finished this purse that I started a year ago. If I decide to make another purse that I quilt myself I hope I remember that I don't want to. It's always so much more work than I think it will be. But I have to admit, I'm happy with the way it came out. It has lots of pockets inside and out. They can hold my phone and my iPad even fits in the purse.
Meniscus Tear
So now I know the cause of my latest pain. I have a torn Meniscus. I wish I could say I was doing some extreme sport that caused the problem but I'm not really sure what did it. I know I felt stiff when moving my leg after sitting on it (a usual sitting position for me) and that may have done it.
According to the literature and the doctor, it can just happen from standing up after sitting down. We're hoping it's going to heal by itself so I don't need surgery. It was the worst on Monday but yesterday it felt better and hopefully I'll continue to improve. This looks like some good information about the tear - http://www.health.com/health/library/topic/0,,te7345_te7346,00.html

Pain of the Month Club
Probably no one would want to join this with me. I don't even want to belong to it. I don't know how I even became a member but I want out!
It was a year ago June that I injured my shoulder doing Yoga. After waiting for it to get better for a few months I finally went to the doctor, physical therapy, got a cortisone shot and by December I noticed that as long as I kept doing my PT exercises, my shoulder was feeling pretty good. However also in December I started getting dull headaches which grew into the Migraine Madness already mentioned near the end of January.
Now the latest. I came back from Greta's Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning I woke up with a funny feeling on the inside of my left knee. I didn't know what it was but it didn't stop me from taking our 2 mile walk. On Thursday it was a little worse, meaning I could just feel it a little more but not enough to stop me from doing anything. Friday it was a little more obvious but I was still able to do a 2 mile walk before work without any pain. Saturday I knew that I didn't feel up for a walk but I was able to go out and do some shopping and I made soup and oatmeal cookies. When I woke up Sunday it was much worse. It hurt to move the knee from straight to a bent position. Later on I couldn't even put weight on it without first letting it get used to being in a straigtened position and keeping it stiff. Later that night Larry found a cane in the basement and this morning he dug up a walker which makes it easier to move around. Once I'm standing for a while it is easier to remain standing and without assistance for moving around.
A call to the orthopedist is coming up, just waiting for the office to open. Update: have an appointment for 3:00 PM tomorrow.

Cartier Commercial
I love the new Cartier commercial (I don't know if I've ever seen a Cariter commercial before). I was semi 'watching' TV last night when it came on either during Desparate Housewives or GCB when I looked up and saw this beautiful scenery and a panther walking through it. Since I didn't see it from the beginning I didn't know whether it was a commercial or a movie trailer, but whatever it was it kept my attention throughtout.
It's supposed to be a history of Cartier - this explains it better.
Saw it again this morning on Good Morning America. Just wish I could afford to shop at Cartier. Wonder how many GMA viewers can.
