A Walk in the Park

I can't believe we've never done this before.  There are so many hiking trails in Webster and we always do the same walk around the neighborhood.  Saturday, when it was another hot day I suggested doing a walk in Whiting Road Nature Preserve.  It turned out to be a good choice because a good part of it was shaded.  There were a lot of different trails to take and we completed 2.8 miles of them.  When Laura comes we'll have to go again.

There's a bunch of real nice Boardwalks over creeks (currently dry) that various Eagle Scouts did.

Bike Ride

Today we took a 12.25 mile bike ride.  We went along the new Hojack Trail.  New because they took out a whole new section of track and it is the nicest part of the ride.  Nice and wide and pretty to ride on, if they would pave it then it would be perfect.  We rode down to Rt. 250 and then took the bike path along 104 to Five Mile Line Rd and then back to Klem and home.

Webster Park

We took a hike in Webster Park today and hiked the trail that we normally use for Cross Country skiing.  We hope that some of the downed trees and limbs will be removed before we have some snow, otherwise we'll need a big base so that we can get over some of them, especially this first one.

UGA vs Auburn

We went to the Georgia-Auburn game today. My biggest concern was that I was going to be cold because the temperature was only in the 60s and the game was at 3:30. It turned out to be a beautiful day and I had enough layers to stay warm after the sun set.

Busy Weekend

Friday started with my lunch and then at night we went to a Cocktail Party at St John Fisher College for the "pioneer group" reunion.  It was the 55th reunion for the class of 1956 which was the 2nd class to graduate from the school after it opened.  They included the first four graduating classes in the "pioneer group" and Larry was the only one there from his class of 1958 which made him the youngest man in attendance.  That doesn't happen too often.
Saturday we went to a bike ride and picnic at Ann and John's.

And then we came back home to go to our neighborhood pig roast

It was a beautiful day but as soon as that sun went down boy did it get cold.

This morning we went to mass and a brunch at Fisher.  College kids sure get better meals than I did when I was in school.  It was like an elegant breakfast buffet.
In the afternoon we played golf.  Ran into Kim and Tim who were on the 6th but came back to where we were on the 3rd so we could play the front 9 together.  I hadn't played since July 30 and was happy my shoulder held out for the duration.
Back at home I order tickets for Nadine and I to go to the 9/11 Memorial when we meet in the city next month.

Park Ave Festival

We went to the Park Ave Festival this morning.  It was a good day to walk around at a festival, cloudy and not hot.  Mostly that's all there was to do.  There didn't seem to be as many crafty booths as usual, or else there just wasn't anything I was interested in, but there were a lot of food concessions. I was glad that I wasn't hungry when I went because everything smelled so good.

We did get a sample of McDonald's Mango Pineapple Smoothie and it was really good.  Once I got home I checked the nutritional information and there are 5 PointsPlus in a 12 oz. serving. 
I liked the way there was an ATM machine at each end of the festival.

We liked that we got to walk 2 miles since we went from one end to the other and back again and got to spend two hours together too!

Good drive

My drive on the 9th hole went past the Purple Martin house again but further than the last. This time I noted the distance - 156 yards.

A Good Golf Day

I played golf with Larry today for the first time since June 25th. Not because I didn't want to but between all the neck and shoulder pains I've been having, the thought of swinging a club and moving my head was not too appealing.

The last time I played with our ladies neighborhood group I pulled something in my shoulder. But I was feeling relatively pain free all week so thought I could give it a chance. The first 2 holes I was a little cautious with the swing but after I didn't hurt myself I loosened up a bit and got a little more aggressive.

Larry came so close to getting a hole in one on the 8th.

For the first time I hit the ball past the Purple Martin house on the 9th.
