Myrtle Beach

We had a pleasant drive to Myrtle Beach.  Weather was good and so was the traffic.  We got out of the car at Ocean Watch and boy was it hot!  80 degrees.  We went to check in but our room wasn't ready.  We finished our check in and rooms were supposed to be ready at 4:00  and it was 3:57 and we didn't have a room.  We went down to the pool bar to wait with a beer and got a call at 4:22 that our room was ready.

We eventually went and got our room key and them unpacked our car onto 2 carts and went to our room where we found someone laying on the kitchen floor working on our refrigerator.  We took all the stuff off the cart and decided to go to the store.  We came back and the refrigerator still wasn't fixed.  No problem - all we have to do is make sure we close the door.  The door just won't close automatically with a push.  We wanted to put our stuff in and go to the hot tub.  We told him he could come back on Friday since we were leaving 2 days early and he should have plenty of time to work on it.

We did go to the hot tub and it felt so good.

Then we had a delicious vodka and tonic
(we were able to buy our favorite Schweppes diet at Kroger and this is Larry's specialty) and snacks but since it was already dark out and not so hot we stayed inside.  Then we had leftovers from home for dinner.

Monday
The morning started out sunny and hot so we took a walk on the beach.

This is the perfect beach house with all the porches and widows walk

We were going to go down to Market Commons in the afternoon around 3:00 and maybe Nacho Hippo while we were there.  I decided to take advantage of the weather and went out to the Serenity Pool.  It was partially sunny when I got down there and then nice and  sunny for awhile.  Then it started to get cloudy until there were really dark clouds and I went up to the room just in time.  Not too much later the sky opened up.

Tuesday
Today was the day we were going to go to Brookgreen Gardens and then stop in Murrells Inlet on the way back.  We left after 10:30 since it was so cold today, especially compared to yesterday.  We went downstairs and were greeted with some freezing cold wind and decided that walking around a park today was not going to be fun.  So instead we went back upstairs, I made some hot coffee and watched The View.  We debated what we wanted to do or where we wanted to go.  We both agreed that we needed to do some walking so we decided to go to the closer of the 2 Tanger Outlets.  It proved to be a good decision for both of us.  We first decided to walk around the mall twice before going into any stores.  This gave us 1 mile of walking.  Then we agreed to each go our own way and meet back in an hour.  It's a good thing I set the alarm on my watch because I would have been late.  I was still in Talbots and Larry met me there after I finished my purchase.  We went to Bath & Body Works and bought some more of those scents for the nightlights and another nightlight, that turned out to be free.  Then we went to Sketchers and Larry got a 2nd pair of sneakers for 1/2 price and I got a pair at 50% off from the clearance section.  A good haul and then the sun was out and it had warmed up to 63°.

When we got back to Ocean Watch we bought some fish tacos, stopped at the Owners Wine Tasting and then came back and ate the tacos.  Then we put on our suits and went to the hot tub.  The rest of the night was just like home - watch the news, eat, more TV and electronics.

Wednesday
Now I know why I've been so bad at keeping up with this blog.  After doing whatever I do all day I have to take time to write it all down here.  That is what I'm trying to do on this vacation, so here goes for today.  We started off with a complimentary buffet breakfast at the Marriott hotel next door that was one of the benefits we got for attending an owner update.  We went after 9:00 - a compromise between Larry's 7:00 AM breakfasts and mine at 11:00.  We both had a fruit plate.
from the buffet and then customized omelets.  Then we went to Brookgreen Gardens, a place we've been meaning to go to for years.   See this post

We got back to our hotel just in time for Brats at 4:00 (we got there at 4:30) with live music - donation to Childrens Miracle Network.  We sat down by the pool bar with a beer to share
and watched a squirrel pull a chicken wing bone, in a napkin out of the garbage.  The bartender said he's a regular on chicken wing Wednesdays and has a collection of bones at the base of one of the trees there.  They call him "Chicken Wing Charlie."

Thursday
This morning I went to aqua JIVE at the indoor pool.  Two gals led it who were full of energy and they had the greatest music which really inspired you to move.  Some of the songs were Thriller, Happy, Ghostbusters, New York New York and a Grease Medley.

After The View we went to Broadway at the Beach which was like a ghost town.  A woman working in one of the "try to get you to buy a timeshare with the pretense of giving you deals" booth said that it was because it was October, during the day, during the week.  We walked around the whole place and then used our freebie tickets for miniature golf - the main reason we went there and the only golf we played in Myrtle Beach.  The best thing there are those gross fish.

Stopped for gas in preparation for our trip to Wadmalaw tomorrow and before we headed up to pack we played a game of Shuffleboard.  We were at 73-70 (Larry-Me).  According to the rules, 75 is game.  I got a +8, Larry got a +8 but also a -10.  😀 😀 😀 😀

Our next stop will be Sangrias at the pool at 4:00.

The sangrias were really good.  Larry had the white (3) and I had the red (2) and we won a door prize.
